A full haircut, start to finish

Full Haircut

Bath, brush out, and a full body haircut in the style you ask for, priced by your dog's weight.

Chapter 01

When the coat has outgrown its shape

A full haircut is the right groom when the whole coat has gone past tidy. The legs have turned to fluff, the body has lost the line it had at the last cut, and a comb no longer moves through the hair without a fight. Curly and wavy coats show it first. Poodles, Doodles and their mixes keep growing hair instead of shedding it, so a dog who looked sharp a few weeks ago can look shapeless by now.

Owners usually spot it at home before anyone says a word. Hair has crept over the eyes. The pads are furred so thickly that paws slide on the kitchen floor. Tangles are gathering behind the ears and under the legs, where a collar and a harness rub all day. When you are brushing more than you are enjoying the dog, a short, even coat is kinder than fighting the old one.

If your dog is between 3 and 7 months, start with the Puppy Intro Trim instead. It is not a full body haircut, and Raleigh Grooming Co. recommends at least two puppy trims before the first full haircut. If your dog was clipped recently and only needs freshening up, The In Between may be all the coat needs.

Every full haircut at the salon in Raleigh starts the same way, with a bath and a brush out, so the coat is clean and open before a blade touches it. Then comes the haircut itself: a full body cut in the style you describe at drop off, whether that is a rounded teddy bear face or a clean, short summer coat.

Matting changes the plan, and the salon says so up front. The policy is Humanity before Vanity. Any dematting can incur a fee, and it is discussed at drop off, before the work starts. An Emily Wall review says the team explained, before and during the appointment, how they planned to cut the doodle around its matting and tangles. That is the conversation to expect.

Plan on 2 to 4 hours, depending on what your dog needs. The salon is open Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 4:30 PM, and a dog is never in its care for more than 5 hours. Rabies vaccination is required, and you can email the record or bring it in. The team page lists every groomer's background, including Hannah, a Fear Free stylist whose bio names breed-standard cuts and Doodles, and Stacey, who describes her specialty as all things poodle.

Chapter 03

Full Haircut prices by weight, and how often to come back

Full Haircut pricing runs on your dog's weight, and every figure is a starting at price. Up to 15 lbs starts at $82, 16 to 25 lbs at $90, 26 to 35 lbs at $99, 36 to 45 lbs at $110, 46 to 55 lbs at $125, 56 to 70 lbs at $140, 71 to 90 lbs at $166, and 91 lbs and up at $191.

The estimate depends on coat type, length and condition, so a long, dense coat or one with tangles to work through can come in above the starting figure. A call to (984) 326-2790 with your dog's breed and weight is the quickest way to talk through the coat before you book.

How often to come back depends on the coat and the style. Many owners book every few weeks to keep a groomed shape, and tightly curled coats usually ask for the shorter interval. If you want the length to hold longer, ask for it cut shorter, and fill the gap between full haircuts with a bath and brush out.

“They absolutely nailed the perfect teddy bear doodle look while still keeping her looking soft, fluffy, natural, and comfortable.” Lisa Bradley, 5-star Google review.
